John was a normal man. You take Mary away from him, he becomes cold, merciless, obsessed with revenge.
The trickster takes Dean away from Sam, and the exact same thing happens.
Mary was a hunter. John was killed, and she instantly sold her soul to bring him back to life.
When Sam was killed, Dean did the exact same thing.
Dean is Sam’s Mary. Sam is Dean’s John.
I cannot fucking believe I missed these parallels all this time.
